We took the boys to the Festival of Trees last weekend. They loved it! When I was little my dance studio used to dance up there but I have not been back since. It was a lot of fun and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
We also went to our ward Christmas party which was really fun! My boys have been scared of Santa every year and have cried at the sight of him. This year they have decided he is not scary and we have now seen him 4 times. They walk right up, sit on his lap, tell him they have been good boys, give him their wish list, and ask for a sucker. It is great! I am loving the fact that they are over their fear!
We have also been sick around our house and have spent a lot of time watching Christmas movies. The boys have loved The Santa Clause, Home Alone 2, Rudolph, and pretty much anything on ABC Family. It has been fun to watch them together as a family!
My boys always come up with the strangest requests for Christmas. I am sure you remember from last year the Spider Easton had to have! This year they have not failed me. Brady has asked for a "monster who throws a ball". I am sure most of you have seen the Big Foot in the store. It is actually really funny!

Easton has asked for the "Stinky Garbage Truck". Really? The thing farts and burps...but he does say excuse me.

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season! I am trying to start some traditions with Brady and Easton this year that we can do as a family, especially ones that will remind them what Christmas is really about. I am open to ideas. What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?

One of our favorite traditions was reading our stash of Christmas books one or two each night counting down to Christmas. On Thanksgiving weekend we would take a family trip to the bookstore and add to our collection. We would inscribe each book with the date and ages of the boys, then I would wrap up the books and put them under the tree. Each night starting Dec. 1 we would make some hot chocolate, turn off the tv and sit by the tree and read a story before bed. It is still one of my boys favorite traditions and they are 19 & 20. Last night we unwrapped and read The Christmas Mouse. It has been a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a bit of quiet family time. Each boy has a couple of favorite stories that they've grown-up with and its fun to connect and remember how old they were when we added that particular book to our collection. At the end of the season we pack up the books so that the next Christmas season they are "NEW" again. We hope you all have a ver MERRY CHRISTMAS. We will miss you!
