Bear with me as I am sure you are all sick of my flashbacks but this was a good day I have to write about.
On November 7, 2006, after a long 3 1/2 weeks my kids were finally released from the hospital. This might sound weird, but I had vey mixed emotions about this...okay I was terrified. They had been on all these machines that would beep anytime anything was too low and they were surounded by nurses and doctors and I was nervous then so you can imagine how I felt about taking them home.
We had to go through quite the process to be able to take them home. The last two nights I had to sleep at the hospital to prove that they could get all their food from me or a bottle and didn't need the feeding tube anymore. Ryan and I had to watch all these movies about infant CPR and shaken baby syndrome. Brady and Easton had to sit in their car seats for 2 hours and be tested to make sure they could breath adequately there. Oh yes, and we had a special way we had to feed them their bottles which made me a stress case everytime they ate. I was glad when this was all over because it all just added to my nerves.
Ryan, my mom and Abbey came and met me in the morning to get everything situated. It was so strange when we finally got them unhooked from all their monitors and they were no longer connected to anything.
The time came to get them in their car seats and the straps were way to big on one of them. It took the 4 of us and 4 nurses to finally figure out the stupid car seat. It was actually kind of funny! We finally got them in their car seats, which seemed huge for how tiny they were, and we were on our way. I think Ryan was a little nervous to drive with them in the car but we made it home safely.

We immediately put them in the pack-n-play next to each other where they spent the rest of the day. It was so fun to have them home! That night we put them in the pack-n-play at the end of our bed. I kept getting up to check on them and make sure they were breathing. Finally I just moved the pack-n-play next to my bed so I could just open my eyes and see them. I slept much better that way.

Everything went great! We had no problems once we were home. I am so lucky that they were so healthy considering everything they went through. I have to say that finally taking my kids home and actually getting to be a mom was one of the best feelings ever! I just love these kids!
