Today I was at Costco when I got a phone call from my little sister. My phone was cutting in and out and I only heard 2 words "mom" and "earthquake". My heart was pounding a million miles a minute but she quickly followed up with "she is fine." My mom is in California with her friends from our neighborhood--aka "the hottties"--for a relaxing getaway. I guess they felt the earthquake pretty good today. I have been trying to get a hold of her since but have had no luck because I think everyone is doing the same. I am glad that she was able to make one phone call to let us know that she is okay. As I drove home, completely shaken up, the thought dawned on me...Geoff is working in LA. Seriously?!? I called Aleena (who had not heard yet) and she said she had not heard from Geoff.I turned on the news when I got home to find that it was a 5.4 and there had been no injuries reported. Thankfully I know he is okay thanks to the news. Hopefully the phone lines will clear up and we will be able to talk to my mom and Geoff soon.
Things like this are always a good reminder of how inspired our Prophets are. My calling right now involves food storage and I have been trying really hard to slowly build ours. Today this hit closer to home than usual and I was reminded how important being prepared is. I will continue to try a little harder to be better prepared as we never know what may be coming our way.
Mom and Geoff--I love you and I am so glad you are okay!

glad to hear everyone is okay. that is so scary!
I am glad that they are OK. It's so scary when someone you love is put in harms way. I have felt such an urgency lately to get my food storage and to be better spiritually prepared. Things like this make you glad you're prepared if it hit close to home.
I'm glad to hear that your mom and Geoff are okay. We had two earthquakes in St. louis right before we moved that woke us up out of our sleep.... not fun.
By the way, thanks for the tip about ordering "Breaking Dawn" through Wal-mart. I ordered mine after reading that on your blog. Super easy!
That's scary. This is the first I've heard of it as I haven't turned on the news yet today! Being prepared is SO important. McKay and I spent way too much on a supply, but I know we have it and it's so comforting to know it's there. Can't wait to see you Thursday (and your hair :)
Glad to hear they are ok! I love the mess the boys made they are so dang cute and that is so fun that they have eachother to make messes with!
Glad they are ok! Earhtquakes are pretty scary. Can't wait to see you!
Hi-
I found your blog when I was doing some research on food storage, and yours came up since you mentioned it in your post. Anyway, my friend and I recently started a website on food storage and emergency preparation. It's a step-by-step guide for beginners and non-beginners alike. Check it out, and feel free to share it with others!

Good luck!
